Prepaid funeral plans

Why is a funeral plan a good investment?

Unfortunately it is very likely we will all die. The rising cost of everything means a funeral in years to come will cost more than today. By securing a funeral plan now the cost is based on current prices even though this will rise in the future.

According to the SunLife Cost of Dying Report, 2018, average funeral costs have gone up by 122.5% since 2004 and the projected average cost of a funeral will be £5,120.00 by 2023.

You can buy a fully secured, guaranteed plan from Otter Valley Funerals today from as little as £3195.

What is a prepaid funeral plan?

A prepaid funeral plan is a way to pay for your (or someone else’s) funeral in advance either by installments or in a lump sum. It does not matter when that person dies – the plan will pay for the funeral you have chosen, even if decades later.

For many people this is the easiest and most practical way to reduce any worry or burden on relatives who otherwise would have to find funds to pay for the funeral.

The funds are actually held in trust so even if your preferred funeral director is no longer around you will get the same service and cover regardless.

From July 2022 funeral plans will also fall under the regulation of the Financial Conduct Authority. This puts them in the same bracket as other regulated products such as mortgages and bank accounts.

What is included?

Even a basic plan includes everything you need for a dignified and professional funeral including:

  • Help with any paperwork and registering the death locally
  • Transport of the deceased to the funeral home chapel of rest and appropriate care
  • A basic veneer coffin suitable for burial or cremation
  • Visiting the deceased in the chapel or rest
  • Unlimited help and advice from our office staff

Various levels and extras are available – see the full list below or visit THIS PAGE to check your requirements and purchase.

Who can take out a funeral plan?

Anyone over the age of 18 can take out a funeral plan in the UK. You can also do the same for another person who is over 18 although we would always suggest you discuss this with them first, in-case they have specific wishes.

Are Funeral Plans safe?

Most funeral plans are a very safe way to plan for the future.  The plans we provide are backed and underwritten by Open Prepaid Funeral Plans, one of the leaders in the UK.
